These are the terms for using Pathara — our career discovery platform, assessment, and the game built around it (Clara, companions, the marketplace). By creating an account or using the site, you're agreeing to these terms. We've written them in plain language on purpose; if anything is unclear, ask us.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Pathara. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must complete any payment for a subscription on your behalf.
You need a username and an email address to create an account — that's all the personal information we collect. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for activity on your account. One account per person.
The Pathara assessment and career matches are for self-discovery and career exploration only. They are not a clinical instrument, a psychological evaluation, or a hiring tool, and they should never be used as one. Your results are a starting point, not a label or a guarantee about any career outcome.
Clara (our virtual currency) and companions (our collectibles, also called Waymarks) exist only inside the platform. They are earned through participation and can never be bought with real money — and we will never sell them.
Clara and companions have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for real money, and cannot be transferred outside the platform. Selling or buying them for real money anywhere is against these terms and may result in account closure.
If your subscription ends or you're on the free tier, you keep everything you've earned. If we ever discontinue the game, we'll give reasonable notice — but because these items have no cash value, no refunds or compensation apply.
The assessment, your profile, your top matches, and the game are free. A paid subscription unlocks the full match list, job search links, learning pathways, and new careers added over time.
Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe and can be canceled anytime through the customer portal — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We don't see or store your card details; Stripe handles payment securely.
Cancel anytime through the customer portal on your account page. You keep full access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again. Canceling never takes away anything you've earned in the game.
As a rule we don't refund partial months — cancellation already lets you use what you paid for. But we're deliberately generous about honest mistakes: if a charge wasn't intended (you forgot to cancel, or a minor subscribed without a parent or guardian's OK), contact us within 14 days of the charge — through your in-app inbox or [email protected] — and we'll refund it, no interrogation.
If we ever change the subscription price, existing subscribers get clear notice by email or in the app before the new price applies.
Journal entries, challenge answers, and path reflections are yours. We store them so you can access them across devices, and we don't share or publish them.
Certificates and diplomas you upload are stored so you can keep them in one place. Only upload documents that are yours. You can delete them anytime from your credentials page.
Don't use scripts, bots, or exploits to farm Clara, mint companions, or manipulate the marketplace. Don't harass other members in trades. We may reverse transactions, remove items, or close accounts that break these rules — we'll always aim to be proportionate and explain why.
You can delete your account anytime by contacting us at [email protected]. Deleting your account permanently removes your data, including your Clara, companions, and journal. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.
Pathara is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service or that career information (salaries, outlooks, pathways) is error-free — much of it comes from public sources like the O*NET database and changes over time.
To the maximum extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before a claim.
We may update these terms as the product evolves. If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
